Hole Spotlight: No. 18 at Heritage Club

Although there are a number of notable finishing holes along the Hammock Coast Golf Trail, there’s nothing quite like the 18th Hole at Heritage Club. The course itself, built upon the site of the True Blue and Midway Plantations, is a tribute to the beauty of the Lowcountry landscape.
This par 71, Dan Maples design was created on the fundamentals of decision-making and risk-reward. And the closing hole at this incredible course is the epitome of those principles.
Measuring 506 yards from the tips and 440 yards from the forwards, it’s hard not to consider going for the green in two on this par-5, 18th Hole. However, this dogleg left is a bit more challenging in person than on paper. Water almost entirely surrounds the green making any approach shot all carry. With that being said, it’s best to layup and have a wedge into the green. Although the island green is expansive, it’s many undulations will make even the simplest putt a bit more difficult. A birdie on the 18th Hole at Heritage most certainly merits a post-round drink or two on your buddies.
The natural beauty of the property, featuring massive live oaks and magnolias and scenic views of the winding Waccamaw River, is equaled only by the quality of the golf course itself. It comes as no surprise that Heritage Club has twice appeared in Golf Digest’s “100 Greatest Public Courses in America.”
The Heritage Club is one of five courses in the Legends Golf Group and part of one of the nation’s most award golf trails. A traditional favorite of both local and visiting golfers, Heritage is a must-play. Come see for yourself if you can master the 18th Hole by calling 888.293.7385 today!
