Host of four LPGA events, Wachesaw Plantation East maintains stature and popularity on the Hammock Coast Golf Trail
There are very few places in the U.S. where publicly accessible golf is so good that one can quite frequently walk onto a course that has played host to multiple professional tournaments. One such facility in the Myrtle Beach area is Wachesaw Plantation East, which is an absolute must-play during your next golf vacation along the Hammock Coast Golf Trail. After all, if it was good enough for the pros, it is sure to provide a spectacular experience suited for you and your group.
From 1997-2000, Wachesaw Plantation East hosted four nationally televised LPGA tournaments: the 1997 Susan G. Komen International, won by Karrie Webb; the 1998-1999 City of Hope Myrtle Beach Classic, won by Webb and Rachel Hetherington, respectively; and the 2000 Kathy Ireland/Greens.com Classic, won by Grace Park. On all four occasions, the exhilarating layout and setting were highly praised by both players and television commentators. And it will be easy for you to see why when you play it.
Scottish-inspired, the greens at Wachesaw Plantation East are some of the largest and most impressive in Myrtle Beach. And with huge forests of Carolina pines lining almost every hole, Wachesaw Plantation East offers an air of seclusion you’ll find most relaxing as you make your way through this Clyde Johnston design.
The course has a perfect combination of dogleg par 4s and 5s and shorter, scoreable par 3s. Measuring just over 6,900 yards from the back tees, the par-72 layout presents a challenge for players of all skill levels, with design elements that include marshy areas, extensive waste bunkering and greenside runoff areas that are sure to challenge. Still, with many different sets of tees from which to choose, the course can be a really fun play for all skill levels. And with a full-service bar and restaurant inside the clubhouse, as well as a covered back patio area, you’re sure to have a great time no matter what score you post.
