The Top 3 Golf Trip “Fails” to Avoid

A golf trip is one of the most anticipated weekends of the year, giving you a chance to spend time with friends, play the game you love, and have a little fun off the course as well.
Only so much can possibly go wrong, right?
We’ve hosted countless trips and on (exceedingly) rare occasions, we’ve seen things go sideways. Here are the three biggest golf trip fails; the things you want to avoid having happen at all cost.
1. The No. 1 priority is having a good time and as important as golf is in that equation, the people are even more vital. You could play Hammock Coast Golf Trail’s four best courses but if you don’t like the company you are keeping, it takes the fun out of the day, which leads to our biggest golf trip fail: not knowing how the people in your group will mesh. Know the guys on your trip and if you are adding players, make sure they will blend in and get along, because the last thing you want to deal with is tension. Infighting is the one thing that can kill a good time and it should be avoidable, so long as you do your homework.
2. Money changes hands on nearly every trip, nothing wrong with that, but don’t gamble too much. Nothing kills a good time like someone losing next month’s mortgage payment. Guys start to get to competitive and you don’t want people to lose a sum of money that really matters. We’ve seen it happen, and it’s not a good thing.
3. This one should probably be at the top of your list, but make sure everyone knows the dates of your trip!! People have been known to put the wrong week in the calendar and have failed to arrive when the rest of their group does. If you are a trip leader, reach out to your guys individually and make sure they know when they are supposed to be here.
