Allen Terrell mentored D.J., now others toward golfing excellence
Located at TPC Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet, the Dustin Johnson Golf School was founded through the collaboration of PGA Tour star Dustin Johnson and acclaimed teaching professional Allen Terrell, who coached Johnson at Coastal Carolina University in the early 2000s. The school provides premium instruction to golfers of all ages and skill levels, ranging from youths to adults, amateurs to touring professionals. And with the latest and greatest in teaching resources and technology—including TrackMan, SwingCatalyst, and K-Vest 3D Motion Analysis—the Dustin Johnson Golf School is more prepped to help players improve than anywhere else around.
For Terrell, the accolades go on and on. He is widely respected as a guru of player development and has coached professionals to more than 20 victories on the PGA and European tours. He has worked with more than 20 NCAA All-Americans, as well as 20 Conference Players of the Year. He has helped more than 50 young players attain college scholarships, not to mention the thousands of lessons he has provided to amateurs.
Terrell is certified Level 3 by Titleist Performance Institute, has received TrackMan University Master status, is US Kids Certified, and a Top 50 Instructor Honorable Mention. He has also worked with players at schools in New England and Shanghai, China.
The goal at the Dustin Johnson Golf School is to develop a custom-built plan for every individual player’s long-term improvement. Terrell understands that there is no such thing as a perfect golf swing, only a swing that works repeatedly for the player. He believes in proper function, not just proper form.
