Play one of Golf Digest’s Best in SC on the Hammock Coast Golf Trail
Golf Digest has published its most recent list of “The Best Golf Courses in South Carolina,” and one of the two Myrtle Beach-area facilities once again included is a Hammock Coast Golf Trail mainstay: Caledonia Golf & Fish Club (at No. 22). Along with its central Grand Strand counterpart at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club, Caledonia is one of just five publicly accessible courses statewide to be given this Golf Digest distinction.
The Hammock Coast Golf Trail offers exclusive access to and preferred rates at Caledonia as well as other top-notch South Strand facilities like Pawleys Plantation & Country Club and TPC Myrtle Beach. Designed by the great Mike Strantz, Caledonia’s Lowcountry setting is captivating, along with its exciting layout which offers a unique collaboration of design features, with large, undulating greens, creative bunkering and many of the Lowcountry’s native elements such as marshy areas, towering live oaks and flowers in full bloom.
Those oaks and flowers set a pristine backdrop for Caledonia’s marquee stretch of par 4s: #14, #15 and #16. Hole #14 is demanding and forces players to hit it over a water hazard to the left to gain a better angle into the green. Hole #15 features prominent bunkering down the left, making driving the ball accurately an absolute must. And #16 includes more fairway bunkers and a small lake protecting the green to the front right.
The golf course at Caledonia is truly one of the best, and so is the customer service you’ll receive from its staff. Inside the clubhouse lies Caledonia’s Grillroom, a place to grab a delicious bite and enjoy some magnificent views of Lowcountry marshland, the Intracoastal Waterway and the par-4 18th before or after your round.
Caledonia provides a distinctive golf experience that is worthy of praise for both the quality of the golf course as well as the customer service and commitment to excellence it displays. Hit the Hammock Coast Golf Trail this fall to check out one of the best in all of South Carolina!
