Highlighting three signature holes at TPC Myrtle Beach

The 12 courses that make up the Hammock Coast Golf Trail represent the best championship-caliber facilities anywhere on the Grand Strand, including TPC Myrtle Beach, a marquee design from the imagination of legendary architect Tom Fazio. Located in Murrells Inlet and offering a memorable round of golf fit for the pros, here are three holes at TPC Myrtle Beach that are sure to make a lasting impression when you visit this spring.

Despite being TPC’s shortest hole, the 158-yard (all yardages from back tees), par-3 fifth is one of its most challenging, particularly from the tips, where the tee shot requires a long, forced carry over water. The green is wider than it is deep, so your margin for error is limited short and long. Meanwhile, a greenside bunker in the right-front looms, as does a bunker in back of the green. For a short hole, there certainly is a lot to think about here.

Next is one of TPC Myrtle Beach’s most recognizable holes. Similar to No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass in Florida, No. 17 at TPC Myrtle Beach is a par-3 (193 yards), played to a peninsula green surrounded on three sides by water. This hole is long, it is difficult, and walking away with a par here is truly something to be commended. Our advice? Aim for the left side of the green, as left and hole high really is the only place to bail out here while remaining dry.

Finally, the finishing hole, No. 18, is a 538-yard par 5 with a creek running along the right side of the fairway before it cuts across and feeds to a large lake on the left. It is a classic risk-reward hole. Players that can snuggle up to the creek before it runs out to the lake can get home in two, but there is considerable risk. Half of the green is exposed to water, and depending on pin placement can be a difficult green to hold. This hole has served as an exclamation point or day-ruiner for many a player in its time.
